Wholeness Is Better Than Perfection
There is a lot more richness in life having 5 things operating at 80% than one thing operating at 150%
There is an inverse relationship between wholeness and perfection. The better you get at one particular thing, the more you will have to sacrifice in other areas. It is better to have more than one plan and to have alternatives - better to go after wholeness than perfection.
The future belongs to those who learn more skills and combine them in creative ways.
— Robert Greene
Knowing a wide variety of skills is important, and being above average in many skills is powerful (at the very least learn enough to get by and be able to recognize the frauds). You are more likely to create your own category by combining different skills rather than being really good at one thing. This can lead to more overall progress rather than in just one domain, i.e. there is more wholeness rather than perfection.
