Trust the Process
“You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, nor be attached to inaction.”
"Set thy heart upon thy work, but never on its reward. Work not for a reward, but never cease to do thy work."
—2:47 - Bhagavad Gita
Focus on what you can control, which are your thoughts and actions in the present moment. Trust the process, do the best that you can, and the outcome will take care of itself. Start with small steps to build momentum. As long as you are aiming up, no matter how low, and trying your best, you will be okay. Whatever the outcome, do not judge it, just objectively observe and work to improve the outcome.
Put another way: trust the process. Perform your duty, your right action, without thinking about the outcome or the fruits of your labour, which you do not have a right to. Set a high aim, and take small steps. Aim low but up if you have to. Do the best that you can and the outcome will take care of itself. Your duty is sacred and that in itself is a devotional practice.
