Building Momentum Is Important
Momentum is powerful, and goes in both directions. If you are going in the wrong direction, it can be difficult to change. However, if you are going in the right direction, you will be more stable and less prone to revert back to old habits. Building momentum is important - the more momentum you have, the easier it will be to build more.
Start with small steps to build momentum. Consistency is more important than taking big steps when it comes to maintaining your current momentum. Focus on systems rather than goals in order to remain on track and build consistency. You can start taking bigger steps and accelerating your progress as you go further along, but building and maintaining momentum is the most important factor.
An important example relates to winning and losing: winners and losers tend to continue winning or losing, which compounds over time.
