Be Outcome Independent
What must ultimately motivate you is the work itself and the process.
Avoid the trap of grandiosity, where motivation comes from the outcome of what is done, namely the attention and ego-boost that occurs when something is done well. Do not tie your happiness with an outcome. You will never be happy, and this is not how great things are created.
Instead, focus on the system rather than the goal. Understand it is more about the journey than the destination. Focus on the process and do not be attached to an outcome or trying to achieve perfection. Just focus on doing the best that you can first, and once it is complete, then you can think about the outcome. When looking at an outcome, do not judge, just observe. Be happy in the moment and focus on the present.
This applies in many areas, including developing social skills. You want to be interested to be interesting, but do not focus on the outcome. Just see where the conversation goes.
