80% is enough
Getting to the stage where you are just past the middle of the learning curve and are experiencing diminishing returns is the most optimal place to be in the majority of cases when learning a skill. Here, you have made the most progress that you can in the shortest amount of time, and are usually well above average. This means that optimizing the beginning stage and putting as much effort into getting past the learning barrier is important.
It is better to be above average at many things than to be in the top percentile of only one thing. Perfectionism hinders progress. Wholeness is better than perfection.
